The Ten Commandments: Imposing Religion or Honoring History? (Wisdom Workshop)

The Ten Commandments: Imposing Religion or Honoring History? (Wisdom Workshop)

Fri, March 27, 2026

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

A dozen states are considering or have already enacted legislation that would mandate display of the Ten Commandments in public schools. The Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty has submitted amicus briefs in two cases in which these laws have been appealed, in Louisiana and Arkansas. In this conversation, we will consider the nature of the Ten Commandments as a religious text and its relation to the Establishment Clause in the U.S. Constitution.

This event is sponsored by University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Religious Studies Department and the Brooks Lecture Fund. Thanks to this sponsorship, while registration is still required, this event is free to attend.
