Temple Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation that strives to bridge tradition and modernity, linking cherished Jewish history with fresh approaches to spirituality, lifelong Jewish learning, and acts of justice.
The congregation was founded in 1871 and nearly 700 families are members today. Temple Israel is the first of the Tri-Faith Initiative partners to build on the commons. The congregation dedicated its new synagogue in October 2013.
One of the great things about being part of Tri-Faith is that we get to learn from each other on an ongoing basis. I find that what I learn from my Christian and Muslim Tri-Faith partners helps me understand my own Judaism better. Tri-Faith helps us discover the beauty in each other’s faith and practice and, at the same time, deepens our connection to our own religious tradition.
