Want to learn about the microbial diversity of the Hell Creek Watershed on the Tri-Faith Commons? Of course you do!

Friday, December 10
2:30 PM – 4:30 PM CDT
Tri-Faith Center and Zoom (RSVP Requested)

Dr. John Kyndt and students from Bellevue University have isolated and identified a new bacterial species from the pond at Hell Creek: “It is a red photosynthetic bacteria resembling Rhodopseudomonas, so, for now, we are calling it Rhodopseudomonas infernalis (isolated from Hell Creek).”

What does that mean? Is it important to the health of the pond and its inhabitants? Can it affect the soil? Or harvest? Come to an informal session with Dr. Kyndt to learn more.

Dr. John Kyndt is an Associate Professor of Microbiology, Nutrition, and Sustainability in the College of Science and Technology at Bellevue University.

Light snacks served for in-person attendees.

RSVP to Lachelle Rankins at lrankins@trifaith.org. Please RSVP by Thursday, December 9 to let Lachelle know if you plan on attending in person or via Zoom.
