“Is the U.S. a ‘Christian Nation?’” The answer to this question is harder than you might think. The founding of the United States of America comes with a lot more religious baggage than most Americans realize, such as the 15th-century Doctrine of Discovery (the basis for the 1823 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Johnson v. McIntosh), the First Amendment, and surprising quotations from our nation’s founders. Join us for an evening of learning, discussions, and activities regarding religion and the founding of the U.S.
